Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals include a Rental Agreement that will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pick-up. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle in Dorset, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. You need to possess a valid full driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Dorset office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Dorset, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was received, except for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when collected; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are also accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals come with fundamental third-party insurance included. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. There may be opportunities to purchase additional insurance to limit your financial exposure. It's advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless otherwise covered by additional policies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the booking type and the notice provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any hazardous driving. Transporting dangerous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. Vehicles must be used as intended and within designated weight and passenger limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by the laws of England and Wales, Car Hire Dorset will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability arising from negligence leading to death or personal injury, or for instances of fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. By continuing to use our services, you accept the updated Terms.
